WONDERKID SIGNS CHELSEA CONTRACT EXTENSION

Welsh wonderkid Ethan Ampadu has signed a five-year contract extension at Chelsea, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2023.

Ampadu has yet to feature for Sarri this season, but could be in line to make his debut for Sarri this Thursday against PAOK in Chelsea's opening Europa League game. Ampadu is guaranteed game time as Maurizio Sarri stated that in the next few weeks there will be rotation in the squad.

Last season, Ampadu made seven appearances under Antonio Conte in cup competitions, showing his usefulness to the Chelsea squad.

Ampadu told the official Chelsea FC club website: “I'm really proud and happy. I'm looking forward to the next five years and all I have got to do now is continue to work hard, and hopefully good things will happen."

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia also commented on Ampadu signing the long term contract, adding: "Ethan has shown great potential and unbelievable maturity since arriving at Chelsea a year ago.

"In this short time he convinced a lot of people with his exceptional quality and mentality and we look forward to watching him develop into a key player for the club over the coming years."

Chelsea travel to Greece to face PAOK Thursday, followed by another away match at West Ham on Sunday.
