Manchester City survived a late scare to maintain their excellent form in the Premier League and extend the gap between Liverpool and them to five points.
Goals from Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez ensured Abdoulaye Doucoure's goal was meaningless for the Hornets.
City are now five points above Liverpool, who travel to Burnley tomorrow night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
City had a great opportunity to take the lead just over 10 minutes in, when Sane received a terrible pass from Roberto Pereyra, but Sane couldn't dink Ben Foster successfully.
Gabriel Jesus did some good work on the byline, to get past Christian Kabasele and David Silva was open across goal but Jesus went for goal and Foster was equal to it.
City were dominating in Watford, but the hosts nearly opened the scoring against the run of play. Troy Deeney found himself just needing Ederson to beat, but the Brazil goalkeeper saved superbly.
It was looking like it wasn't going to happen for the champions - but their patience paid off.
Riyad Mahrez's cross was turned in by Sane; who chested it beyond Foster. Great improvised finish from Sane.
Straight after the restart, Mahrez turned from creator to score; when Jesus' cut-back was finished brilliantly by the Algeria winger.
Doucoure finished from close-range to ensure there were a tense few minutes remaining for the visitors.
But it came to nothing and City carried on their outrageous record away from home.
