WATFORD 1-2 MANCHESTER UNITED: REPORT

Manchester United bag back-to-back wins for the first time this season, as they end Watford's 100% start to the season, despite a late scare...

United were looking to put together some type of good form, as they faced a Watford side who were on the form of their lives.

The visitors had the majority of the opening stages, controlling the possession as expected and they thought they took the lead as well.

Alexis Sanchez had the ball in the net following a Nemanja Matic cross, but the Chilean was in an offside position.

However, United weren't to be denied, as an Ashley Young cross was turned in by Romelu Lukaku, who bagged his fourth of the season.

United looked in control and the game was taking place in Watford's half.

An emphatic Chris Smalling volley doubled United's lead straight after they went a goal to the good.

Smalling chested the ball down from the corner before smashing a volley in with his weaker foot.

And just like that, the game seemed to be too far away from the Hornets, who were destined for their first loss of the season.

The teams went into the break with the visitors looking on their way to ensuring a very impressive win against a dangerous Watford team.

Watford were back in the match with 25 minutes to go, when Andre Gray powered in from an Abdoulaye Doucoure pull-back, leaving David de Gea with no chance whatsoever.

The game was completely different following the goal - and Watford, who looked a shadow of the side they have been this season in the first-half, looked dangerous again.

Watford continued pressing but couldn't break down a United defence, who have come under much criticism this season, but defended well.

Matic was sent off for a second yellow after a foul on Will Hughes and the visitors were down to ten men for about a minute.

A late free-kick resulting from the red card, saw a Christian Kabasele header wonderfully saved by de Gea and that was enough for United and they had the three points.

United move up to eighth place, leapfrogging Leicester and Everton in the process; whilst Watford stay in fourth place following their first loss.

Chants of "Jose Mourinho, Jose Mourinho" at the end from the traveling fans perhaps telling of the support they have for their manager...
