WATFORD 2-1 TOTTENHAM: MATCH REPORT

Resilient Watford come back and show great determination to win 2-1 against Spurs.
Tottenham dominated the possession but failed to create clear chances and finish off the ones they did get.
Watford, spurred on by captain Troy Deeney, picked up the intensity after conceding and were able to score twice.
Two goals from set pieces were enough for Watford who managed to hold on to all 3 points.
The game started as many expected, Spurs had the majority of the possession but Watford remained composed.
Dele Alli had Tottenham’s first big chance of the game when his header went just past the top left corner in the 12th minute.
Watford had a chance of their own in the 18th minute but the header was hit over by captain Troy Deeney.
There was a penalty shout in the 21st minute for Spurs as Lucas Moura went down in the box but the claim was waved away by the referee.
Spurs control the game but struggle to create clear chances and really threaten Watford.
Kane had an attempt blocked in the 29th minute and Moura took a shot that went wide in the 30th.
The first half comes to a close with Tottenham having several more chances missed though not clear chances, they finish the half with 5 shots taken but none on target, Watford have had 2 shots with 1 on target.
Eriksen had a long shot easily saved in the 48th minute by Ben Foster, the shot was on target but had little power behind it, the same happens again in the 50th minute.
8 minutes into the second half, a scrappy part of play and some shaky defending from Watford results in an own goal from Doucoure. Spurs lead 1-0 in the 53rd minute.
Watford look more lively after conceding the first goal and commit more men forward, creating more chances.
Spurs break away in the 65th minute giving them a 2-on-1 situation but the pass across from Kane is blocked.
Watford counter right away, Deeney crosses a ball across and Alderweireld’s headed clearance hits the crossbar.
Watford pick up the intensity and begin to attack Spurs.
A free-kick is delivered into the box and Troy Deeney meets it well, directing his header into the back of the net, 1-1 69 mins played.
Watford keep up the pressure, creating chances and putting Spurs on the back foot.
Janmaat breaks through in the 74th minute but his ball across the box is not met by a team mate but Watford are getting closer.
The following corner is delivered and met by Craig Cathcart who heads it brilliantly into the very right of the net. Watford lead 2-1 in the 76th minute, both goals coming from headers from set pieces.
Watford now looking to defend their lead in numbers and hit Spurs on the counter, both sides are threatening each other.
Keiran Trippier crosses a ball in in the 86th minute that is met well by Kane who can only hit the header over the bar from close range.
Spurs continue to press for an equalizer, earning a free kick in a dangerous area in the 94th minute.
Eriksen delivers the ball in but it is cleared away by Troy Deeney who has put in a great captain's performance.
Watford hang on and win the game 2-1, keeping their unbeaten streak whilst Spurs lose theirs.
