WATFORD VS HUDDERSFIELD: PREVIEW

ree

Huddersfield manager David Wagner has cited misfortune as reason for his side’s lacklustre start to the Premier League season.

The Terriers travel to Vicarage Road to take on high-flying Watford this Saturday (3pm), and believes his side have certainly boasted “no luck so far”.

“We have to work further for our luck”, the German admitted, "With this atmosphere and the spirit in our dressing room and the quality in training, you can’t imagine you’re speaking about a team without a win in nine games.”

Their hosts, the Hornets, place seventh but boss Javi Gracia believes a home tie with the struggling Yorkshire outfit is “the most difficult game to play in this moment”.

TEAM NEWS:

Watford are without Tom Cleverley, Daryl Janmaat and Sebastian Prodl for tomorrow’s clash, with Gracia doubtful that star man Troy Deeney will make his return after a persistent hamstring injury.

“He’s in the same process, but we don’t know if he will arrive [at the game]”.

Nathaniel Chalobah is also not expected to return, but Gracia is confident that “if he does not make this game, he will make the next one”.

Huddersfield, on the other hand, will miss Danny Williams, Tommy Smith and Terence Kongolo, with the latter pair having just returned to training. Rajiv Van La Parra could be absent through illness.

STATS:

  • Watford have scored in four of their last five home leagues matches, meanwhile The Terriers have found the net in all of their four away fixtures.

  • Watford have thirteen more points than Huddersfield this season, but haven’t beaten Huddersfield in Hertfordshire for four years, emerging 4-2 victors in 2014.

  • Huddersfield have won the last four meetings between the two, winning 4-1 at Vicarage Road last season.

BETTING ODDS:

Watford are overwhelming favourites at 3/4 with Huddersfield the underdogs at 17/4. A first draw for nineteen years between the two is 11/4.
